| | I have had my 1300 Tourer for three months and with over 4200 miles on it have had very few of the problems being discussed here. I have had the usual Yamaha noises from the bike, but that was expected. My only complaint is with the seat. In Sepember Mustang will have a seat ready for the 1300 and that will fix this issue. I do find it interesting that someone bought two previous Yamaha's and complains about them, and then buys yet another Yamaha? Does that make any sense? As with most things, there is the occasional lemon in the basket, but all in all I think Yamaha got this one right. I love my ride. |

| weird...I have had mine for almost 2000 miles now and have no issues like the ones I am hearing. Did all of you making complaints follow the break in process?
I know there are always a few lemons in the bunch but I have had no such issues other than the seat that will be fixed once i get my mustang.

| My V* 1300 is excellent, even better than I had expected. I also realize there are others who have experienced some surging - often associated with the factory FI settings being a little lean; also some slight jerking above 10 mph - due partly to the bike's taller gearing, and possibly aided by the lean settings. This is something that can also be easliy corrected, if by nothing else, by just occasionally feathering the clutch at that very low speed. If done right, it won't make a bit of difference in the clutch's longevity. There are lots of little things than certainly make a difference in how any make and model of bike acts.
Personally, I have no surging at any speed. With the clutch out, I can maintain 13 mph and above with no jerking at all. Below that, I feather the clutch as needed. My wife and I find the 1300 to be an exceptional value, especially since we recently "moved up" from our Harley. Our short mid-week bike ride up the FL Keys is tomorrow eve and we can't wait.

| I have had this bike for two weeks. It is currently in for the 600 mi. service. It's been a great bike so far. Smooth, comfortable, powerful, it's been all I could ask for.

| I posted the following review:
Full Review
I would love my new v star 1300 except that it has a bug in the motor or transmission which causes it to vibrate or rub at low speed. Factory, according to dealer "Snake River Yamaha of Boise" says they are aware of the problem but I should go ahead and ride it anyway. This after they already removed the transmission tore it down replaced a bearing that was seizing up "according to the dealer." And it is still doing the same thing. The technician and salesman both rode it and agreed that it is something that should not be happening. The factory has assured me they will take care of me but nothing has happened yet.
The dealer seems to be even less interested in resolving the problem. I'm not a fan of the dealer, as you can probably tell.
Unfortunately, the lackluster performance of the dealer, absence of any real resolution to the problem leads me to suggest that you avoid this vehicle at all cost or until the problem is fixed.
Other concerns might be the reach. I'm five foot eight and do have a pretty short reach. The handle bars are too far forward to me and there is no adjustment for that so I've had to order custom handle bars.
I'll certainly update this review if either the factory or the dealer step up to the plate in any way.

| [size=3][font=Comic Sans MS]I just got my bike back from its 600 mile service and have to say that I am still very happy with my bike. The power is amazing and the ride is great. I too experienced some noise I didnt expect but since breakin they have virtually dissapeared. Of course I come from riding an 83 Venture Touring bike so maybe I am a little spoiled about hearing noise, since I was always listening to CD's or radio, so outside noises didnt affect me as much. All in all the 1300T is a great bike and Ihave no regrets in buying it............I dont know if everyone realiizes it but 5th gear on this bike is a true overdrive gear. At speeds below 50 in 5th it will lug, at this point you need to downshift to 4th and get the revs up. I for the most part dont ever get into 5th gear unless I am doing at least 60 mph. As for gas mileage, mine has been creeping up with each fill up. Last one was 47 mgp. Not bad, hope it goes a little higher, would like to see it hit 50 mpg. My hat is off to Star for producing a great bike.

I owned a 06 Sportster ... traded it in on the 07 1300 t
The Sportster had its share of problems. Mandatory stage 1 that cost a thousand dollars because HD couldnt tune out the spit and sputtering.
Got an internittent check engine and battery light.
Cheap plastic clips held on battery cover, caused cover to fall off while riding and not covered under warranty
Speedo Sensor went, was told by Sheldon of Durham none in the country. I called around and first dealer I called had one in stock.
Im not trying to bash HD .. but HD isnt the best out there any longer. They are no worse / no better then any of the rest of the manufacturers.
Here with Yamaha ... yes I have some of the problems discussed. BUT the bike is better equipped, more powerful and maintenance, service contracts and accesories are ALOT cheaper.
As for the noise. This is a vtwin .. just as much motor noise here as with the Sporty.
But, they do have clutch/shifting and maybe tranny issues here.
