When i press the front brake lever on my foreman i get no braking action. After pressing many times quickly, my brakes will stop me but when i let off, i loose the brake pressure and have to press many times again. What is the problem and can it be fixed by replacing the master cylinder set?

i have a 04 honda foreman 450 ES and it was doin that. It ended up that the brake pads and other things inside of the hub were bad. I had bought the quad with the problem and we found out that the brake hub was packed with mudd and water that was rusting everything. We ended up taking it to a mechanic who did it so i couldn't tell you all the parts that were bad in the hub.
