| I've been reading up on the KLR650. It sounds like a phenomenal bike! Two items I cannot find is the quarter mile and 0-60 mph times. Any road tests over the last twenty years with this info? Anyone have some personal results?

| | Ken, it is a Dual Sport Motorcycle, not a Road Race Bike. Quarter Mile time/s and 0-60 time/s are rather irrelevant. The bike is quick enough, and fast enough to be fatal. Fast enough to get a speeding ticket. How quick and fast does a person need a Dual Sport Motorcycle to be? |

| I agree that for a DP bike, quarter mile and 0 to 60 times are useless. But to answer your question, Cycle World magazine tested a 2008 KLR in their November 2007 issue and recorded a 6 second 0 to 60 and the quarter mile in 14.63 @ 86.94 MPH. They also recorded a top speed of 93 MPH if that is important to you.
Again, to most people who buy these bikes these numbers are irrelevant since they know that just about any street bike will smoke the KLR on the strip and they don't care. I suggest you look at a ZX-14 or Suzuki Hayabusa if you want faster. The KLR650 goes fast enough to run with traffic and get you over your head if you don't pay attention. These bikes are all about enjoying the ride and exploring what's around the next curve or down the next trail. Fun? Yes. Fast? No. |
