We purchased a new 2006 RXP for our 16 year old son in April. He has 45 hours on it already (we live in NY). He complains that it is not running as fast as it did. My husband believes it is because he jumps waves and the ski is out of the water with the motor still accelerated. My son thinks it is his wear ring. My husband thinks that if it is the wear ring, that it is caused by my son taking off very fast from a dead stand still. Help!!! They are driving me crazy. Can you tell me who is right? Thanks! Sue

It's probably the supercharger! Ask him if he still hears the wistle type noise when he slightly presses the accelerator, if not it's the supercharger. It happens often when people jump waves because the charger is spinning so fast when you hit back on the water it's like throwing the brakes on and it burns it up. I burned mine up a week ago and I really wasn't going over that big of wakes. I guess it's the price we pay to go fast.

that has nothing to do with it they are built with a rev limiter for the supercharger so dont worry its probably a wear ring that would explain the loss of power it is inexpesive so dont worry

If he has been jumping waves and not letting off the throttle when he jumps,it is hitting the rev limiter without the pump remaining "hooked".This wears out the supercharger clutch washers, and will be very expensive to fix if you dont have it looked at soon. They can come apart and enter the motor, causing severe damage. The rev limiter is not "for the supercharger" as Anonymous posted, all watercraft have them,he is an idiot.Take it to the shop and have the supercharger checked, trust me on this.Tell your son to a more responsible rider, this thing isn't a cheap toy.

MORE THAN LIKELY THE WEARING IS WORN IN THE PUMP. HAVE IT CHANGED. WHAT ARE THE WATERCONDITIONS YOUR BOY IS RIDING IN?
