| When I run the ST below 3K rpm in traffic, I can hear a disconcerting slapping noise coming from the engine. This seems to happen only when the engine's fairly high up in the temperature range. Anyone else experience this and/or have any ideas on where the sound originates? Thanks -

| I have noticed the same noise on my '93 ST. I have no idea where it originates but my mechanic ensures me it is nothing to worry about.

| Thanks for your replies, guys - hope your crankcase noises continue to be nothing serious. I'm still riding with the sounds and am hoping for the best.

| | My Pan has done 83k miles and had the same noise for 2 reasons: - 1. Oil pump drive chain. 2.The clutch release bearing. Both jobs done at the same time. |
