Well i looked at all the nake bikes before buying my zrx1100 and i think it was the best all round package with great handling and the best breaks and the looks to go with it.

Troy,
I considered the ZRX1200, Bandit, BMW1150R, Concours and other bikes. The ZRX was a technological leap over the Bandit. The Bandit is a fine machine, but the adjustment of the suspension is very limited, and the engine is dated. The ZRX was a better, smoother (less vibrations), more all around bike.
I crashed my first 2001 ZRX (my bad), and purchased another without delay.

I have a 2001 ZRX1200R with around 6700 miles I have a sargent custom seat and a muzzy exhaust... I am 6ft and around 240 Lbs. 39 years old and I love my bike.
Its very fast and stable...yet, I found out the hard way, its not nearly as fast as a 2003 Honda 954...LOL, anyway its a super bike on short rides around town and on 100 mile or so road trips.
This is my 6th motorcycle. In short it has the feel of a true rice rocket, without the sore back...it is also a pure wicked bike to look at and ride...even better...My wife is afraid to ride with me.

I have the ZRX and am quite pleased with it, just a note though that the stock windshield, if you want to call it that, sucks. you will need to get a Givi one that gives 100% better wind coverage. Or better try to get the european fairing that is on the "S" model

When I bought my ZXR1200R in October, 2002, I test rode the Bandit 1200 and the Yamaha FZ1. I thought they were all great. The Bandit was a little more relaxed than I expected, however. It also felt "older" than the other two. The FZ1 was great fun with more severe handling and braking but it had what I thought was a bad trait...in first and second gear you are either accelerating or decelerating. There is no "coasting" like you might want to do during casual riding around your neighborhood. The ZXR1200R had it all. Power, brakes, handling and overall good manners. I don't think you can actually go wrong with any of the three, however. - Ed

I own a 2003 ZRX1200r, it absolutely rocks. Best investment ever, adjustable suspension, which the bandit doesn't have. A co-worker bought a brand new bandit 1200 and has had it back into the shop transmission problems. All sorts of noise.
I have let 2 friends ride my new bike, one has a ducati 748, the other a harley sportster 1200, highly modified. Both were extremely suprised by the power, the ability to lift the front tire without slipping the clutch, and how well it handled.
I'm all smiles every time I ride it.
