| Can the Helix maintain a speed of 65-70 MPH and easily pass 18 wheelers for a two hour road trip?

| | It all depends on how much wind you have against you. You do get pushed around sometimes. I hope you know how to countersteer. You might get pushed back to 63mph if the going gets tough. You can't pass anything at 65-70MPH. |

| | On fairly flat roads and a light breeze, the helix will will run well over 70 with a 220 lb driver. If very windy and hilly, you can hold the throttle wide open for long periods of time if needed, as i have lots of times and the worst gas mileage ive gotten was 63 MPG. Occasionally ive passed some 18 wheelers, but most seem to drive over the speed limit. A two hour road trip is a nice enjoyable ride. |

| The sweet spot on my 2001 is around 63, it will go a little beyond 70. I ride a super-slab in the mornings and stay in the right lane, everybody else is well above 70. I average 68mpg.

| | Other answers have it about right in my experience. Anything above about 60 is pushing these nice machines. If you are looking for a road scooter, consider a Bergman 400 or 600. |

| Ride my Helix on LA freeways at least 2 to 3 times a week.
It can pass, but the more hills and wind the more I hit the brick wall of 65mph.
Easy 70 on a strait away.
Have an older Helix (81) and get 80 mpg.
20,000 miles+ and lovin it. |
