| It depends on the state. In illinois, if it is over 50cc but under a 150cc, they want you to have an "L" class license. In reality, most cops don't even know what that is. Most people don't bother with it unless it is an actual motorcyle or a very high CC scooter. If worst comes to worst, you would end up with a ticket at most if everything else was legal depending on how the cop felt.
