| Hi all. I am very attracted to the Burgman 650, even though a lot of my friends say it is not a real motorcycle. I am wondering about the torque. Does the CVT make the Burgy more torquey than a motorcycle of equal size, like the SV 650 for example, or is it more similar to the GS500E? I would love to ride 2-up on this but want to make sure I will not have to get off and push on a steep hill... Thank you for your time.

| I rode one the other day at the dealer. it turned out to be a new 03 and i bought it. It was so much fun. fast as hell. I own a zx11 which is one of the fastest bikes made so I know my way around. I had the greatest time testing it and it was 40 degrees outside. im telling you, it was a ton of fun. I bought it by the way, I am picking it up this sunday

| I have 9,500 maintance free miles on my Burgman. The computer always keeps the Burgman in the power band. It is never at a loss for power. I have never ridden two up but I can asure you that you will not have to push off when starting up an incline. As a matter of fact starting up on an incline and making a turn is one of the Burgy's best features. You don't have to hold brake, give gas, let out clutch, release brake and lift your foot. Keep both feet planted on the ground, give it some gas and go. Motorcycle Consumer News compaired the Burgman speed and times to most 750cc bikes. I call the Burgman the cruiser slayer. You come off a red light at 1/3 throttle and the big V-twin next to you will calling on all his ponies to stay even with you. I use the OE windshield in the summer to get the extra air flow during the hot summer riding. I just put my GIVI after market windshield for the winder. Handle bar flares on the GIVI keep the direct wind off you hands. I do not have heated gloves. I dress for the temperature and use a pair of good insulated gloves for cold weather riding.

| Hello, Jean!
My spouse and me did the Mutt Trail, with our Burgman 650, since Montreal. If you desire to know more on the merites of the Burgman versus the other bikes, the forum of motodirect.net will learn you a lot!

| No problem..on a steep hill you can switch on the power band for extra pull, or even use the manual shift mode.

| I own a 650 Burgman and have rode this machine 5,000 miles in 3 months here in sunny southern California/Nevada. My wife and I ride two up for many trips up the mountains, curves and straight freeway. This machine does not hesitate when opening the throttle. We get an average mpg of 50. I can tell you that it is money well spent.

| I have a SV650S and am purchasing a Burgman 400. It's hard to compare them because of the automatic transmission on the Burgmans. The SV650 has "hang-on" torque thru a wide range. The 400 Burgman doesn't have that, but it gets up to 50 mph quite quickly without making you grab on for dear life!I haven't tried any steep hills yet, but I doubt that it will have any problems. It's more comfortable than the SV, especially for a passenger, but not as much fun. If you can, test drive them both. I've never tried a GS500, sorry.
