Strongly considering a Speedmaster, have beenn looking at bikes for a few weeks now, and believe I have made my decision. My first concern was lack of top end. I don't expect to be cruising around at 90 MPH or anything, but hate to have it revving hard on extended rides at 80 MPH or so. Secondly, I have read about people swapping out the airbox for one from Freak I believe. I hate to purchase a bike as nice as this and take wrenches to it, but I wonder if a dealer would perform the upgrade (I question it because it is not a genuine Triumph part). Do you suppose it would have any affect on the warranty? Any input on these questions would be appreciated.

Mechanically, the main difference between the Speedmaster and the America is the size of the final drive sprocket at the gearbox. If the engine sounds like it's turning too fast for your liking, take a test ride on an America and, if that is more to your liking, replace the sprocket. There is also one available that is 1 tooth larger than the America that will slow the engine a bit more. You wouldn't want to go any bigger than that one though because it will start eating into your low speed performance.
You'll have to talk to your dealer about the Freak kit. Some have no problems with installing those and/or aftermarket exhaust systems, Air injection eliminators, etc. and some will pass out on the floor at the very mention of such activities.

Just got back from Arkansas. Rode about 700 miles with two full sized Harleys. Had no trouble keeping up and we were running about 85. Engine sounds like its reved high but RPMs were between 4000 and 4500, witch I dont consider to high. Redline 7000. Owned three weeks, not a problem, love it.

Hi Rob, Go to Thunderbike Powersports and see what our Sports Mufflers do for this model. The power issue can be dealt with in a quick affordable way. Graeme
