I have a 2006 foreman 500 es and have just done the 100 mile oil change. My dealer recomended castrol 10w40. I used castrol syntec 10w40 is this a safe choice?

No. Most synthetics are of the Energy Conserving type. They have friction modifiers and detergents in them that are harmful to your bikes clutch. Use a 10w-40 oil that does not have the seal of Energy Conserving on it.
