I have a question for all you that know it all. Know one around here knows how to fix this. My smowmobile engine siezed. Got a new Piston and a mechanic homed out the cyliner said clearance is OK. Now it pulls hard to start and will not run. Will run if I take out the spark plug on the bad cylinder. Acts like there is too much compresion and can not get going? Or if I take off the muffeler it will also run with the spark plug in. The muffeler is not plugged.. Please help...

could be faulty needle valve in the carb. the gas seeps in the cylinder and when you crank the compression is increased. check if plug gets wet or follds.

You put the rings in upside down against the grain of the steel cylinder. Im assumming that if you honned the cylinder that it is not a crome or nickel plated cylinder,
if you put the rings in upside down on the piston this will cause friction. very similar to running a hand plainer against the grain on a wood plank it causes friction. If you are using a Weisco piston there are markings on the ring, they are very small so you have to search for them, they must point upward on the piston, this is the correct grain direction.....

well it sounds like you have to much back pressure, check if you even have the right muffler, if it runs with no muffler then just ride it without one, it will be loud but it runs atleast

wrong rings or you put them upside down! and dont ride without a muffler because eventually the exhaust will build up inside and it will blow up!
