| When people talk about carb jetting, they are mainly discussing the size of the main jet. A jet is a solid piece of brass with a hole in it that allows fuel to pass from the carburetor float bowl and into the air intake tract. The higher the number or size of the jet, the more fuel that will pass. Too high (rich) a jet will cause a lack of power, fouled plugs, and poor fuel mileage. Too low (lean) a jet will cause overheating and could result in major damage. It's best to leave it stock if you don't know exactly what you're doing. There are books you can buy that explain the concept of carburetor tuning if you want to give it a try.
