| | Hawkeye, I have a recon also, and the independent suspension is top of the line and keeps the tires on the ground. Higher ground clearance and more power than the recon for about the same money! 229cc engine vs 299cc! |

| 4x4 or 4x2 ? It all depends on how much mud,,,, how deep? Just normal mud you don’t need 4x4. If you are talking mucky chocolate pudding mud you should have 4x4. I have a Recon and love it . My friend has a Hawkeye 4x4 with a thirst for fuel of about 22 MPG . The Recon gets about 40 MPG. I suspect even with the 4x2 Hawkeye it will still be thirstier than the Recon due to weight, CC’s, and the CVT . As my friend says “It’s worth another 2 gallons a day” We have never had a real need for 4WD and my friend with the Hawkeye has never needed it,,,, but it is nice to have (him along just in case I need pulled out LOL). If you want to see where you can go without 4 WD go to PaulsWackyWorld , go to the index then ATV adventures. I think both of your choices are good ones !

| I just traded my wife's 2005 Recon for a 2006 Hawkeye 4x4, there is no comparison between the two. I initially thought the 2WD Recon was enough, but if you want to go through mud, go with a 4x4.
