| I have installed thunderbike sport mufflers (spectacular increase of power, by the way) and I got the same problem of backfire. The solution is to install an air injection removal kit you can find it at http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/ai_removal_kit.html.
Mean while you can reduce backfiring adjusting the idle mixture screw (if you havent done it yet). This can be done very easily with a short screwdriver. Note the original position of the screw then turn it anti-clockwise by one turn when viewed from underneath. The screw is located in the lower front area of the carburetor in the round extension which projects downwards, beside the electrical connections.

| | Remove the air injection system and screw the idle mixture screws out to about 3 turns and that should all go away or at least get a lot better. |

| Taken from the Motorcycle Gearshops website -
* Triumph Accessory silencers may require carburettor re-jetting or specific tune download depending on model. Where required, appropriate jets are supplied with silencers and after market tune conditions for fuel injected models are available from authorised Triumph dealers.
