I have 2 Sportsman 500's, 98 and a 2003. Both run great. The 98 has 1600 miles and has never skipped a beat. You won't go wrong buying a Polaris. They are dependable (from my experience).

I have a 2000 sportsman 500 with 1700 miles, and my uncle has '99 sportman 500HO, with 2400 miles, neither have given us any problems at all.

My 2003 sp 600 took a dump at 56 miles (belt) and 274 miles (stator). I think that it's VERY UNRELIABLE. Buy a Honda. Maybe not as much HP, but at least it will keep going and going and going...
