| Hi Pablo. I have a 2002 kawasaki prairie 650 too and i had the same problem. It could be a number of things. First, look on your clutch cover and look for a motor held on by 3 bolts. This is called an actuator, it pushes against the clutch for engine breaking at low speeds, mainly for descending hillsides. You also have an actuator on your front differential for shifting from 2wd to 4wd. Both these are controlled by a unit under your seat called a ecu or electronic control unit. Its the box with only 1 plug and 15 wires on it leading into the ecu. The blinking you described is something called failure mode. Look to see how much time there is between blinks. If it takes a half a second to go from 2wd to 4wd then its the actuator on the front differential. If it takes 1 second to switch then its the one on the clutch cover. If it takes 2 seconds then theres a problem with both. One of the actuators may be shorted out. If not there may be a short in the wires running from the ecu to the actuators. If thats still not the case then the only other thing i can think of would be the ecu. Thats what was wrong with mine. The ecu was $350 for me. I dont know how much the actuators are but if i had to guess i'd say over $300 a piece. If i were you i would still take it to a kawasaki dealership to fix the problem. just tell them everything i told you and see what they think. They should be able to figure it out. Well, good luck to you. I hope you solve your problem soon.

| This usually means that the KEB-C (Engine braking) system is malfunctioning or the 2wd and/or 4wd system is. Check with your dealer anyways.
