| Do you actually have to stop to shift between 2 and 4 wheel drive? The owners manual warns of damage.

| I don't stop to shift 2X to 4X, but then again, I can't find my darn owners manual anyway.

| Yes, Brian you have to. The gears are such that by not stopping you will do severe damage to the transmission gear box. (Such as it is)

| Talked with Dealer, even though the manual states you should stop, you can shift between 2 and 4 wheel drive if you are going less than 20 mph.

| yeah, you really ought to stop. there are no synchromesh type items to keep parts breakage from occurring. the system is very simple, works well. you can run in 4wd thru the woods, and handling is not very compromised with the visco-lok.

| Yes, you do have to come to a near stop...although in my experience...leave it in 4X..It does little for gas milage on mine if I leave it in 2X
