has anyone had a problem with water getting in behind the black plate were the shifter enters the transmision, I found this out when the weather droped below -0 and i could not change gears

I had the same problem, My shifter wouldn't budge in cold weather. I took it to my dealer twice who did nothing about it. I finally took the cover off where I found chunks of ice. I packed the area with grease so not to leave a cavety for water. It solved the problem, but now it's hard to feel the gears click in place when shifting, especially when the grease is cold and thick. It worked though.
