I own a 2001 Buell Blast and I'm having a hard time getting a straight answer on how to change the transmission fluid. The dealership has no idea and says it's the same as the engine oil and from what I can tell it's not. I want to try and avoid taking it in to them, but at this point it seems I have no other choice. Does anyone have any pointers?

Stop!! The engine oil IS NOT integral with the engine oil!!! The trans fluid is on the left side when seated on the bike. The problem is this... You cannot access the FILL area positioned directly behind the frame rail supporting the footpeg. I have not figured out how to remove this portion of the bike, but I really need to because it is my wifes and there is a seal leaking from the primary drive, allowing oil to drip onto the rear tire. I could write about the bike forever (design issues with servicabilty... nightmarish!) Go to a dealer that at least knows you have trans fluid, I had to tell mine...

Look directly under the clutch inspection cover on the left side of the bike and there is a drain plug for the tranny. Unscrew it to drain it. To put the new fluid in, you have to remove the left footpeg assembly. To do that, you have to remove the seat, and the battery, then reach down in there with a swivel socket to remove the bolts that hold it on. Once its off, remove the clutch inspection cover and refill it through that hole. Use Harley Davidson Sport-Trans Fluid (part #98854-96)One quart is all it takes. Removing the left footpeg assembly is a bit of a pain. The rest is pretty straitforward.
