I have a 2001 SP500 with less than 100 miles. I took in for a routine service check and the guy tells me my clutch is worn out. I ask if this is possible with 25 hrs and less than 100 miles. He says yes and that it is not covered by regular or extended warranty.

Has anyone had this problem ?

Thanks David Hardy

If I had to guess, your situation here is that your back sheave on your clutch has a groove worn in it by your belt which happens when the operator uses high range in high load applications when he should be using low range. Unfortunately, Polaris will request the clutch back if filed under warranty and they will decline coverage.

Welcome to PolarisVille,
My friend and I have had the same problem. I use mine in low all of the time except on hard rock trails. I have about 1800 miles on mine and it started doing it at about 1500. My extended warranty won't cover it either. I just talked to polaris and they told me they won't fix it. Read my problems on my 2000 remington 500. good luck

I have a sure fire cure for this one. Sell the piece of sh*t while you still can. I also agree on the sheave problem. Also you will start to wear a grove on your clutch plates by not being in low. Buy a Honda with shaft drive. Good luck
