My first bike was a 99 ZX11, so I guess I have a place in my heart for Kawasaki's. Maby thats why I have to ask this question to someone who own's a new ZZR1200. Now please be honest. How is the ride when you are touring with a passenger? Is it comfortable for long stints? I think its a great looking bike. Much like the ZX11. I just bought a new 2002 Hayabusa. Couldn't pass it up. There was a 2002 ZZR1200 next to it in the show room. Decision decisions! Thanks for your time. I just got to know. By the way. The busa is uncomfortable as can be. I would never recomend it as a touring bike. RIde safe. Mark Out!

I love my ZZR! It is a comfortable bike. I have 3200 miles on it so far and wouldn't trade it for anything out there. My riding partner loves it too, she tells me that it is very comfortable. Cycle World said that the passenger seating position is nearly perfect. So far I have added givi bags, throttlemeister cruise control, and gen mar handlebar risers. I would definitely recommend the bike.

The 'Busa was originally designed as 'The Ultimate Sports Tourer". So to be technically correct it is not an orthodox touring bike.
The Hayabusa is classified as a sports tourer and not a sports bike in the vein of the Fireblade, R1 and the like.
The Hayabusa was first rumoured to exist during 1998. It was finally launched in Spain on the Catalunya circuit in April 1999. It joins the lists of top speed limit breaking bikes over the years. In fact it is the first production motorcycle to break the 300kph barrier ! The namer of the bike is reported to be Suzuki Product Planning group - Akihiko Muramatsu.
The term Hayabusa was used to name a WWII Japanese aircraft. Designated the KI-43 it was built by the Nakajima conglomerate and was classed a fighter. This was apparently the first use of bird names for aircraft

I find the seat to be terrible for more than an hours ride. I'm 43 yrs old last bike was a yzf600r which had very similar comfort level. Corbin or sargent seat will fix the seat problem and gen-mar makes 1 and half inch bar risers if you find bars to low. The wind protection is great for a sport bike and several companies can supply hard luggage(givi, kappa, nonfango even kawasaki) with a few modifications this is the ultimate rocket tourer imho.

In the 5 months I have had my ZZR1200, I managed to rack up 10000 miles. Every Sunday I put between 200-500 miles on the clock. HOWEVER, I have installed Genmar risers, Corbin seat, ZeroGravity ST screen and a few other mods to make my machine custom to my tastes. As for two up riding, with the corbin seat and back rest you don't really feel the passenger (as long as they know how to be a good passenger). I get my best fuel mileage with a passenger!
