I want to buy a new motorcycle but I can not decide between the bmw k 1200 r or the Triumph speed triple. Somebody please give me his input on both models.

I would say go for the BMW, but then a lot depends on what you want. I rode the Triumph several times recently while looking for a sportier bike than I currently have, and I liked it. Great design, enough power, user-friendly gauges (which even have a gear indicator). On the con side, the bike is small and not overly comfortable. Fun for about two hours, but then you start feeling it. On the other hand, the BMW is a missile on wheels. Since its wet weight almost tops 550 lb., the bike is not as jerky as you expect on a powerful sportsbike, plus far more comfortable than your other option. And let's face it, the BMW has the technological edge here. I'm waiting for the fall specials to kick in so that I can grab one them myself.

Hello,
I am a owner of the 2006 K1200 R.
Previously a 2005 Speed Triple.

If you are looking for the a smooth and powerful ride, take the k1200 r.

If you are looking to do wheelies and looking for a twichy ride, then the triple.

The bike was like night and day.
The speed triple - I tell everyone is like a wild stallion.

The BMW k1200 r is like a Race horse.

The bmw is the most solid bike that I have ever rode. I have owned about 26 bikes in my life time.

If you are looking for fast percise machine: BMW is it.

If you are looking for a fast street toy: Speed Triple.

I would buy the K1200 R again over the speed triple.

Good Luck!

I just sold my BMW in January for many reasons. If you feel you must buy a BMW don't let the warranty run out. Replacement parts are unbelievably high. I would go for the Triumph. Why? No voodoo power brakes, smoother throttle response,no CANbus system, ect.And most important you will not have BMW North America's attitude that any thing that goes wrong is your fault, please close the door when you leave. Have you looked at Suzuki's V-Strom 650 and 1000. Good luck on your choice.
