| Just wondering if anyone has tried removing the baffles on the new 900 Classic. Just bought one and would like to improve the sound.

| Steve, not yet - but I am itching to do it. I have been bouncing the idea of other VROC members and they seem to agree on one thing; the 900 is equipped with catalytic converters inside of the mufflers(very expensive!!!), It might be very difficult to improve the sound without damaging the cat. If you(or me ) mess up we are in for a lot of cash to get them replaced and aftermarket pipes are still at least a month out. I love the look of the pipes I just hate the sound. The 900 reminds me of the old BMW MC boxer engines. It just doesn't sound like a VTWIN. I have looked into the pipes and I can see something like a screen(baffle?). I just don't know if punching through it is going to change the sound to my liking and I am a bit hesitant to risk it without a way out. Let me know if you or anybody else has a modification for the stock exhaust that works. Or if you have an idea let's talk,
Best,
Mike

| I punched through the two vertical screens in each of the mufflers. I used my 1/2" drill with a 1" round hole saw attached to a rigged 20" drill bit extension. That's all I needed to give it a louder and deeper tone. It sounds great.

| Steve,
Go ahead and purchase a set of aftermarket pipes. I have installed a set of longshot pipes from Cobra. They have made a huge difference in sound. I wanted loud, I got loud. Just right, if you know what I mean.
