| | Do all BMWs geraboxes, including the R1200GS ones, go "CLUNK" EVERY time you change gear ? |

| My experience is that the new gearboxes are very refined. The old one's went 'clunk' but never failed to shift. The new one's are so smooth sometimes its hard to tell if the gear has shifted. This has been my experience from rides on the 1200GS, 1200ST, 1200RT, K1200S and K1200R. If they 'clunk' check the clutch linkage.

| | I have a new 2006 1200 GS and it's got a definate "clunk" between 1st and 2nd and sometimes 3rd. The higher gears are quiet. I'm not sure why, but I get very little clunk when shifting between second and third in a turn. I've also found that the clunk is less in general when shifting just short of 4K RPM. |

| | Change out the dino based trany fluid to Redline Synthetic and it'll snick into gear with zero problems. |
