| Hello, I own a 95 nighthawk and I love it! The problem is that I seem to be getting about 28-35 miles per gallon. Any idea why? Things I could check?

| I have a 93 Nighthawk and only get about 135 miles per tank (35 mpg) too. If you get a response, let me know what you find out. I hear all these guys saying they get 50+ mpg and I shake my head. - Scott scott_b_h@hotmail.com

| I have a '93 750 and I consistently (from day 1) get 165-185 miles in before I have to turn on the reserve (depending on how hard I ride, of course). Most of the mileage is in the city, too. You know, the zippin' in and out of traffic, waiting at traffic lights at every block kind. I think a lot of it depends on how long you let it warm up at fast idle before you start out, how hard you ride it, what build you are, general upkeep of the bike (like oil & plug changes, proper air pressure in the tires) and the topography you ride it in. One time I did stretch a tank to 225 miles; granted, I was almost riding on fumes when I pulled into the gas station, but I believe it is possible to get close to the 50 mpg some people say is true.

| Change your air filter, it's probably blackened and plugged.
