i'm 35 and rode bikes growing up (z50, xr80, xr125 - honda). i stopped after 10th grade and i want to get back to riding. things have changed it seems so i don't know how to buy. i am obviously not motorx, but i want a good solid bike to ride trails, have enough power to get up and go and jump a little. i am 5'7" and weigh 155. will this bike have enough power? will it be reliable? i have a pretty stressful job and need some good fun/stress relief and a getaway from the city.. thxs in advance.

our stories are simular. i'm 32,6', 215 lbs. rode dirt bikes and 3 wheelers while growing up. i havn't rode anything since high school. in july i bought a '06 klx 300 (along with several other bikes for my kids and a quad for the wife). i only trail ride. either on my flat 12 acres in ohio or on old coal mine land in the wv mountains. i am very happy with the power of the 300. it takes me up mountains as fast as i want to go without working it hard. it seems to have a very wide power band. lots of power at low and high rpm. i am very happy with the suspention of the 300. will it be reliable? that is yet to be seen. on my first trip to wv on day 2 the magneto went out 10 miles from camp. had to be pulled back to camp via a rope and my fatherinlaw's quad. it was covered under warranty, took about 2 weeks to get it back. it backfires on occation while engine braking down hills or during high speed/high rpm runs and the throttle is abruptly chopped. the dealer is currently looking into it. over all im pleased with the bike. i think it performes very well. any questions email ystollings@yahoo.com
