You HAVE to recalibrate the OBC. When you place open pipes on a bike (the V-rod in particular) a certain amount of back pressure must be preserved. The best I found for my V-hod is the Screamin' Eagle 16 ga system. They have some baffling, but "straight pipe" sound. On last thing you have to replace the air filter w/ the SE high-flow one. Hope this helps!

In order to run straight pipes, which I don't recommend, you will need to put on a PowerCommander or other piggyback system, or you can buy a Harley Race Tuner and have it dynoed. I would recommend buying a pipe that is made for the V-rod that has a small performance baffle that is built to give the engine the performance that it can produce. Straight pipes are not made for performance, only to be really loud. There is a lot of technology built into baffles. Trust me on this.
