I'm 18, 6' 1'' and about 165 lbs. i'm lookin to buy a bike for the first time and the ducati series looks to b the best because it is different from all those jap bikes and has awesome performance from what i've read. i'm holdin out on buying this bike because i want to make sure and get a good bike and do a good job riding it. are there any tips you guys could give me or some things i need to do in order to prepare myself? thanks

You would fit just fine! I'm the same size. Ducs are very ergonomic bikes. They are however unconfortable as any reply-racer! You may want to strenthen your wrists working out! You are going to need it! Or you can put some adjustable bars on the bike. I would advise to get the 749/999 because of the extra power of the 4valve, more in pair with the jap counterparts. Otherwise the 1000ss and lastly the 800ss. Handling/qualitie and beauty wise, any of the Duc's will beat the rice burners! Dont go crazy right away! get use to the bike trotle response before you start to lean hard! Duc's can lean impossible angles! and remenber Duc's side stand are notoriously weak, you should look for a good aftermarket fork/swing arm stand.
Dont forget to buy some good armored gear/helmet just in case you go down.

Ducati's arent starter bikes. Look for an old used bike. You will spend less money and less time crying once you drop it the first time. Save up and get the ducati after you get the experince.
