Thinking about moving up from Honda ACE 750 to Suzuki Bandit 1200S. I know they two different rides. Any advice?

After riding my ACE 750 for a year and 6000 miles, I did exactly that. The 'Zook is a great bargain new or used, and a good fit for us bigger guys (I'm 6'2", 220). The Bandit riding position is "standard", so, depending on your height, you'll probably lean forward a little bit more than on the Shadow, and your feet'll be directly below your rear end.

Keep in mind too that the Suzuki is an inline-4 and doesn't have the ACE's (nice) Harley-style V-twin lope. If you like to cruise at a relaxed pace, you might miss that rumble and those vibes! I kinda did! The big Bandit just pulls smooth and hard in every gear... which leads me to my next suggestion: Beware. You have to have shifting/braking/turning down ice cold before making the switch, 'cause this bike has unholy power compared to the Shadow. A nice surprise wheelie is about the best you can hope for on the Bandit if you're really careless opening the throttle -- on the Shadow that same move's probably just a little lurch. So yeah, this bike is great fun (I'm grinning every time I get off of mine) BUT make sure you're good and smooth first.

Exactly what I did several years ago. Prepare to be shocked at the difference in performance - the Bandit is much faster and brakes much better, and handles much better, even with the budget suspension. I couldn't believe the difference. Plus it doesn't hurt to ride it unlike some hardcore sport bikes. Cheers.

I have a Harley 883R Sportster and a Suzuki Bandit 1200. If you don't have any (or very much) sportbike experiance you should consider a Bandit 600. The 600 will still feel like a rocket compared to the honda.Get taller risers and windscreen to make the transition easier. The bandit will also suprise you in your mid & upper rpm's it will take off while the honda used upits low end torque.
