Is this suitable for cruising - say 200 miles at a time? How is the rider comfort and fuel economy? How does it ride on freeways?

If you fill it up (6.1 gallons) you should good for 250 miles with a 50+ mile reserve). Theres no gas guage so Id error on the conservative side.

I havent had mine up to freeway speeds yet although all reports Ive read indicate it'll cruise at 70-80 with 20- 30 mph available past that, e.g. it does the standing 1/4 mile in about 14 seconds at about 90 mph.

I dont know about buffeting at 80 mph--that would be a concern. Its a pretty light bike. A taller windscreen is available from Kawa. and I think I'd replace the front sail-like fender with something more aerodynamic for freeway use.

Read my I love it review above. I am a big guy so it is like riding double when i ride alone. I run from WS across MN to ND on I94 and back with no problems. Now if i want I can blast the back roads on the way back, for fun. It is easy to maintain. I have no real problems with cross winds or comfort, but, I don't let little things brother me.

Great freeway cruiser. For those about 6 feet tall or less, the factory windshield works great. Any taller 4" + sizes are available from Kawasaki or Arrowhead. Seat is ok by most, and aftermarket units are avialable in dished or standard. Add a fork brace and you can even follow a semi without wandering. 200 miles is about when I hit reserve. Lowest mpg is 50.1,highest is 57. Try klr650.net for a dedcated group of believers.

Ive ridden mine on east coast freeways up to 60 miles at a stretch. It does ok, especially if you tuck in a little to get below the wind flow. Speedwise, its fast enough--it'll cruise at 75 all day. None-the-less, I prefer secondary roads whenever time is not of the essense. Its really more comfortable there. There really arent a lot of 337 lb motorcycles that feel at home on the freeway, by the way.
