| | Do not buy a KX250F. I bought mine 4 months ago and with only 1 1/2 months of riding time, the engine went in it. It has alot of power but too much power unless you got the money to fix it all the time. I had to replace all components of the engine. The same thing happened to my buddies Kx250F. I am now getting a KLX300R next week. |

| The Klx is a much better trail bike, It has a bigger flywheel and climbs better and is ealier to ride on trail. It will never have the peak power performance the 250f has.
It does depend on the type of trails, if you live in a wide open area with high speed washes the Kaw 250f will work well but if you get into tight stuff be ready to play with the clutch... all the time.
The 250f is great for MX and has mucho hp and will pull wheelies but is not as good for trail riding. If you are a great rider, you can ride the 250f on hard trails but you will be clutching it a lot and stalling it. This makes it not much fun. Putting a larger flywheel on it makes it more managable but it loses that abrupt powerband that many like. At this time my opinion would be that a WR250f or a CRFX250 would be a better choice, the honda being less desirable dute to having to change the oil every other ride(or blow up the motor.) |

| I'm 5'8 115 pounds and have been riding my KLX300r for around 2 years. I love it much better than the CRF due to its low seat hight, low end monster power, and its ability to survice a nuke to the motor. My dad has the CRF and it handles more like a 2 stroke in my opinion. The CRF requires VERY VERY carefull watch of the oil due to the small resevior and the fact that it burn oil fast. My friend seized his CRF after 110 miles without checking the oil. My other friend seized his CRF450 after 3 rides. I love the KLX300r due to the fact of reliability and low end grunt, which is made up for by having a 6 speed trans.

| Remember: The KLX is designed for trails, and does it well. The KXF is a MX bike designed to race around a MX track for 20 minutes, it also will do this well. Think about what you're doing more, trails or MX track, and choose the bike to suit. I can say I've had my KLX for 2 years now, and have jetted it with a Pro Circuit exhaust, and it runs fantastically. In fact in a recent drag race between a 2004 WR250, a 2001 CR125, a 2006 KTM250SXF and my KLX, the results were as follows after a 200ft drag: About 1 bike length. Only the CR125 was way behind. Yep, the ol' KLX kept up fine, and surprised everybody! (thanks largely to the great bottom end grunt). A good compromise for what you want might be a CRF250X or WR250F which is a enduro tuned four stroke MX (heavier flywheel, different gearing etc), however you pay a lot more for them vs a KLX. The suspension on the CRF250X & WR250F is a lot plusher though. You basically don't have to do any work on a KLX though which means more ridin' and less fixin'. I'd say if you've got the coin and don't mind spending a little more on maintainence, go the CRF250X or WR250F. If you're on a tighter budget, get the KLX300R and dynojet it / put on an aftermarket pipe. Either will be a great ride.
