| I am looking at purchasing my first bike. I have a little experience on smaller dirt bikes when I was much younger. I am looking at getting a sport bike for now while I am younger and getting a big fat hog later when I am rich and can afford the maintenance. For a 27 year old 6'2" 300 lb. dude what do you folks think would be the best route to take as far as a first sport bike is concerned or because of my size should I just stick to a big cruiser?

| The best course of action when getting into sportbikes is to start with something smaller and work your way up. A very nice starting bike is Kawasaki's Ninja 500, which is what I started on. These can be picked up in really good shape for pretty cheap, they're sporty, fast, and comfortable. But if you must have a "superbike" start no higher than a 600cc bike. Honda's CBR 600F4i is one of the best choices you can make, and it would be an acceptable first bike. It is much less comfortable than the Ninja 500, but it will last longer (its abilities can grow with your abilities). Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you get a 1000cc bike as a first bike. The power in this class is way too much for even experienced riders. The only difference is engine size (between these and the 600s). So stay to the smaller engines to start. The FIRST thing you should do is to take a motorcycle safety class. This will teach you what you need to know about riding on the road, it lowers insurance rates, and it will make you a much safer rider. email me if you have any questions and good luck! jaredn1@umbc.edu

| | No difinately not a cruiser. As far as your height goes any liter bike should be reasonably comfortable. I have a buddy who is 320lbs and he rides a 97 cbr929 and loves it. |
