I have recently purchased a 2001 Valcun Classic. My first bike and already I'm in love! It has Vance & Hines pipes. There are what appear to be hot spots (chrome discoloration) in the center, join area of each pipe. They are the pipes recommended for this bike. What does this mean? Do they need to be replaced? They sure sound great! Thanks, Sharon

No they don't need to be replaced. Blueing of exhaust pipes is pretty normal. They advertise stuff to clean it off if you find it a problem.

You shouldn't be seeing any bluing if the pipes have heat shields. How does the bike run? Does it pop and back fire through the carb? You may need to get a jet kit for it, contact Vance and Hines about one for your application. When putting on free flowing exhaust, the mixture gets leaner which is what causes bluing and the symptoms I mentioned.
