| Would it fair to compare the K 1200 S with the 2005 Ducati base model 999, insofar as in-town rideability and rider ergonomics? Or are these two machines apples to oranges?

| totally different bikes. the BMW is heavier but more comfortable. The steering is sublime. I have never experienced the confidence this bike has in the turns. The Ducati is like going to the gym you have to work your ass off to handle this bike. And the Ducati is an absolute inferno when riding in town.
If you opt for the ducati you need to be quite skilled
with it's agressive position. However, if you need a date the Ducati is the Ace in the hole.
