My brother just got some vance & Hines cruzers on his bike and it almost eliminated the backfiring or missing. He bought a jet kit for it but didn't use it yet because the exhaust helped so much..

DON'T USE CHEAP GAS AND MAYBE CHANGE PLUGS. DON'T PUT ON PIPES WITHOUT THE JET KIT OR YOU WILL SCREW YOUR BIKE UP BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING FROM 1''WHOLE TO 3'' WHOLE EXHAUST

Hadthe same prob when I bought my 03 new.(800)New Cobra pipes and a inexpensive jet kit(80.00$)and it eliminated all the backfire bs and sound fantastic. Added a lot of zip to the bike too! Good luck bro

Had the same problem. Had Vance and Hines pipes and jet kit. The dealer could find nothing wrong. Contrary to what most people say, mine stopped backfiring when I started running regular gas instead of premium. 6000 miles later I have not screwed up the motor, and it still runs like new.

I had problems backfiring and found that my pipes had loosened up from the cylinders. I torqued the bolts and problem was solved.
