This is really an answer, not a question. 1. If your bike surges, run it through the gears at high rpm and stop babying it. 2. The vibrations go away as the bike breaks in. 3. Accessories are coming including a taller windshield to stop buffeting. 4. The DL1000 uses the TL1000 engine which is stone ax reliable so stop worrying about engine noises. 5. 456 lbs. dry weight is not heavy! You need to start working out friend!

There are a few differences in the DL engine from the TL1000 engine.
They may not be related to the complaints, but here's a source for more info...

You can also have the FI adjusted - it would require a dyno such as a Yoshimura but I have heard with a little more gas it smooths out quite well. I've only got 500 miles on mine so I have not had it adjusted yet.
