I am currently looking at naked street bikes & love the looks & features of the ZRX1200R. I have two years of riding experience & question if this bike is too powerful for me. I want a smooth, linear powerband that is not too uncontrollable. I plan on doing a lot of 2 person riding & this bike looks to be quite capable. Could someone with familiarity with this bike help me? Thank You.

You have two years experience on what? It goes without saying that it has, as you say, a very linear powerband. Despite its power and size/weight, it is very easy to ride with predictable handling and strong brakes. However it is not a sports bike and has the potential to tie itself in knots if you press it. I would say that its sister bike , the zzr1200 might be an even better choice than the zrx, though it is even more powerful. All the mags have tested these bikes. Safe riding and good luck with your choice.

Well Anonymous i got a zrx1100 and thay are a forgiving bike when you make mistakes but still they are a very powerful bike.Maybe with your experience you should look at a zr-7 kawasaki it will do everthing uyou want it to and there a great bike that will last a long time.

You say you have two years of experience. Do you commute in heavy traffic daily reguardless of the weather, and spend every weekend at the track? Or do you take a short ride one Saturday a month except during winter? Other answers recommended two other Kawasakis. The ZR7S is a fine bike for one up. Two up for any more than 20-30 miles and you and your seat partner will hate it. I had that experience on a similar bike and subsequently bought a Gold Wing. To far the other end of the spectrum. I noticed on the ZZR1200 that to much weight was resting on my wrists. This was simply sitting on the bike in the showroom. This effect would be compounded by the weight of a passenger. Check the rider reviews of this bike, almost everyone complains of this. The ZZR is also thousands more $$$. Get the ZReX, then a Corbin Gunfighter & Lady seat with the backrest for both comfort and safety. Then enjoy the ride.

anon, i find my rex to be very user friendly although at the end of the day it is a big motorcycle and if you punt it hard you can easily come to greif if you're not attentive. having said that it's a doddle to ride at low rpm all day with still enough torque to burst quickly if needed. i load mine with...er...excess camping gear and it doesn't even notice. it's comfy and easier to move around on than a zzr which is far more practicle as a daily ride and tourer. ride them ALL and see what tickles you.

01 ZRX was my first bike ever with very little experience on bikes - maybe a total of 4 hours in the last 4 years. little did i know that it would be my only transportation around Phoenix for the first month i've had it. I've put 2k miles on it already. everyone thought i was crazy for getting the ZRX for a first bike but i know i won't be wanting a bigger bike in 6 months. i've found it pretty forgiving to ride and the power is easy to manage. i have no regrets buying this bike and having this be the bike i learn on. just don't get over your head on it and respect the throttle and you'll be fine.
