| My 18 yr. old son would like to start riding. He is taking a riding class next month. He is convinced he can already handle a F4I for a first bike. I only ride street bikes, I have a HD Dyna and have never riden one of these sport bikes.
Looking at the specs of the F4I i see is has about 95 hp on a 360 lb bike. That is much more hp and half the weight of my HD. Granted the F4I needs much more rpm to get the HP.
But this sure doesn't seem like a good entry level bike for my son. I'm afraid he will get over confident way too soon and be flying down the road much faster than he is capable of handling.
I'd like some input from those who know more than I do about these sport bikes.
If there are better choices please let me know.
Thanks! |

| I see this has already been asked by someone else on this forum. Sorry for double posting. I tried to edit my first post and had problems with my computer.
If anyone has any additional suggestions please let me know.
Thanks. |

| you're absolutely right. no CBR, GSXR, R1 or R6, Daytonas or ZX bikes should be in the discussion. too powerful and responsive for a new rider. too unforgiving of the mistakes he will surely make as we all have. better choices are:
Kaw ninja 250, 500, 650
Suz katana 600, GS500f, GSX650f, SV 650 (note that the SV650 and ninja 650 are about as sporty and aggressive as a new rider should try)
Yam yzf 600r
