| | I started out on a 1982 Honda Magna and it was a good bike then my wife decided to be nice and let me buy a new bike. So I decided to purchase the 2005 Honda Shadow Areo 750. Bike rides very smooth and has never let me down. I've rode to the dragons tail and beyond and still runs great. If I was going to make any complaints on the bike it would have to be the stock seat sucks. Also the bike really needs to have a sixth gear. Those are my only two complaints. First, if you really want to make a difference with the comfort level of your bike's seat,there are some excellent choices out there. A friend with a 2006 Aero, switched to the Mustang Wide Touring Seat and both he and his wife loved it. Depending upon whether, or not, you ride alone, or 2-up, if you're interested in something like a Mustang, you should contact Shane at SS Custom Cycle: www.sscustomcycle.com. He's as good as it gets with regards to great products at a great price with exceptional service.
Next, a 5-speed is a 5-speed is a 5-speed, and coupled with a 750cc V-twin, it may feel like it's winding out too much and buzzing at higher speeds, but it's just the nature of a bike of that style and size. You can ride at highway speeds on that bike all day long and it shouldn't present any problems. It's a nice little bike for everyday use.

Seriously though, expanding on what you said about the gearing, if you added a sixth (or seventh, eighth, ninth, etc.) gear, all that would happen is that you'd get a smoother engine that started losing power to the wheel, where if you were at top speed in fifth, and shifted to sixth, you'd slow down even with full throttle.

| Hi there.
I'm from Sydney, Australia and I do own a 2005 Vt 750C Shadow.
It is a great bike, special for medium size riders. My wife loves it.
Very good consumption, on open road 11 lt of [premium unleaded, 98 oct] petrol will get 270 km, cruising around 95 km/hour.
Done already 13500 km, and all very good.
I do keep this bike original with the same exhaust and only a K&N filter to replace the stock one.
The only think that concerns me is that I did discover under the bike are 3 drain tubes. One of them, following it's way up, splits in two smaller tubes, one finishes just little bit up from the right removable panel and the other goes under the petrol tank and finishes behind the radiator cap.
Both are not connected... Did you come across with something like that?
Any comments?
