I would like to hear from people regarding average miles per gallon they are getting on there fuel injected 1200 sportsters. I am averaging around 40 mpg. That is quite abit less than my 2005 sportster was getting. Mine is a new 2008. Maybe it will due better as it breaks in. What do you think?

Update on my 2008 1200R Sportster. I am pleased to say that after my 1000 mile service my fuel economy is much better. I filled up twice since. The first time I got 48 miles per gallon. The second time I got 46 miles per gallon. The second time was after some hard riding in the Ozark mountains. Lots of long steep hills and twisties. I am pleased. I told the dealer about this improvement. They thought It was due to the clutch adjustment that is part of the first service. I will buy that because I did mention to them when I took it in that I didn't think the clutch was operating right.

I wish I had EFI. I have an '06 - the last year of the choke. But, I've consistently got 46-52 mpg since I bought it in late 2005.

Anyone know why Powersports Network changed their Q&A section to this Forum? This site sucks compared to how how it used to be. People used to write questions and answers like crazy . . . now it's a virtual ghost town. Maybe people are tool lazy to register, I don't know. But, I sure wish they would change it back.

I hear the pain.. I just purchase an 08 1200r for the wife and am getting aprox 38-45mpg, After the bike has wormed up it sounds like smacking 2 pans together when i down shift. Anyone else experience this, I have a Big dog and it sounds nothing like this. Bike has 180m on it now.

Just got a 2004 Roadster. MPG ranges from 40-45. It is not Prius mileage, but Harley riders have a completely superior version of Smug.

Plus, Prius drivers never really seem to be quite as happy as Harley riders.

I don't wonder!
