| | It's ok as a fun bike (backyard and trails). Many adults and older teens WANT to get a KLX110 because they are so much fun AND because there is a huge selection of aftermarket parts to make the KLX110 fit and perform better for the taller and heavier rider. I got one for my son who is the same size as you mention, and I plan on modifying it to grow with him. |

| crf100 would probably be better, maybe even a ttr-125, at 12 years old and pretty much his weight, i got an xr(crf)100 and i rode it for 3 years until it was stolen. Tons of aftermarket suspension and power parts too. Also, if the child in question is mature enough, you may want to consider a 2 stroke. possibly a kx65 or 85. Whatever you get, try to get a bike with manual clutch because he is pretty old and needs to learn how to operate a manual in order to move up in years to come.

| | I just bought 2 of these bikes for my 9 and 10 year olds who have never ridden before. They ride these bikes just fine and they have more than enough speed and power for them. I weigh 220 and my friend clocked me at 45 M.P.H. on it with his crotch rocket. They both have about 9 hours riding time per bike and so far have been outstanding, especially for riding at our Colorado altitudes anywhere from 6000-12,500 feet where we are. I would highly reccomend this bike to you. I paid about $1800 out the door for each bike brand new. |
