| | Thinking about an entry level commuter. I'm 6'4" and 230#. Not sure if the Nighthawk is right for me... any other tall riders have an opinion? |

First, when you say, "commuter," are you referring to riding only in areas where you'll be maintaining speed of less than 45-50 mph, with your commutes being only a few miles each way? I'm asking because this really is a small bike, especially for someone your size. It also has only a drum brake on both the front and rear, which I'm not keen on, at all. Even my cool little scooter used for putt-putting around Key West has a disc brake on the front.
It's purely "my opinion"... but I would far recommend you spending almost the same money for a used 2 or 3 year old Shadow 750 with really low miles on it. It's light, nimble, economical, far more comfy, safer to ride in traffic, allows you so many more options for riding, and is a world apart from the little Nighthawk, which you would almost engulf and find less than enjoyable pretty quickly. Just my 2 cents. : )

| agreed on the 250 being small for you. rarely is someone big enough that I wouldn't have them start on a 250, but at your height especially, I don't think this bike would fit you well. Morg brings up a good point about the brakes too. At your (and my) weight, drums on a small bike would not make me feel safe enough. If you do opt for a 250, at least get one with discs, but I'd agree that you could be looking for a bigger bike overall. I know fuel economy is a concern, but going up a bit in size won't hurt as much as squeezing onto a too small bike would.
