Hey
Im new to motorcycles so im planning to take the class to learn how to ride. After reading blogs I realize how good is a 250R for beginners ( Im 5'11 & 165 Lbs). Im looking for my first bike,I would like to get a 2008 from the dealer cuz they have the "go green" deal on it. Looking for used ones I just found an AD for a 250R year 2001 for sale ($1600) , and im wondering what are some things to know when getting a used bike. maybe asking the millage or if it has leaks? Due to my budget I think getting a used one might be the right choice for me.
Thanks a lot

this is often a "starter" bike, so that means its a little more likely to have been dropped or involved in an accident. (don't worry, this doesn't means yours will-taking the MSF class will help) So check for marks on the body work, the tank, the bars and levers, and just ask if its ever been on the ground. ask about any service records or receipts. see if you can look under the body work to see if anything leaks onto the inside of it and to look for anythinf damaged.

Budget wise, if you really like the '08, (which I can't blame you for, its been revised for this year and looks like some good improvements have been made), then think about getting it for the $1900 more it costs than the used one. This bike historically holds its resale value fairly well, so although it costs more now, you'll probably get a lot of that back if you sell it in the future, assuming its still in good shape.
