| yes the speedometer is off i called dealer and factory. the law says as long as its within 10% its legal. harley davidson is the only one that stands behind theirs being right on. you're have to ask a police officer to check your speed.

| I took mine into the dealer and they replaced the speedo sensor but it is still off. Mine gets worse the faster you go.

rogerOn my '06 VTX I used my GPS to track my speed going down the highway and I was off by 5.8 Miles per hour at 60. I called Honda about the issue and they told me that being it was reading faster instead of slower, and wasn't over 10% off it was ok. I was not too happy with what they had to say, It sounded more like a cop out from fixing the problem. |

| it will almost always be that a speedo will read faster than you're actually going, and that the company won't do anything about it. Its usally by a certain percentage, so what I always do is figure out that percentage, (now with a GPS, formerly with a stopwatch and mile markers) and just memorize the actual numbers I want to use. Or if you can mount the GPS, just stick with that.
One school of thought is that a purposefully fast reading speedo will tend to slow riders down a bit by making them think they are going faster than actual. It wouldn't surprise me when you think about the fact that millions of dollars goes into mass centralization, cumputer improvement, weight loss, etc., but they can't make a simple thing like an instrument work.
