| | Time for oil change. I can't find the spec oil in any auto parts stores as required by owners manual. All the 10-30 are energy conservation on lable. Do ya'll buy Honda brand or what have ya'll found to be compatible? Also the rear end asks for 80w is 80-90 w the same? Kinda hate to be tied to Honda oil if compatible other brands are as good or better. Thanks and keep the rubber down. Don |

| Use motorcycle specific oil labeled JASO MA, API SJ. If your manual tells you to use 10w30, use 10w40. The SAE 80w90 will work fine in the axle. The latest motor oils for cars and light truck have friction additives that make the oil too slippery for a motorcycle's wet clutch to work right. Don't use motor oil labeled API SL, SM in a bike with a wet clutch.
I know you are talking about a Honda. But, the owners manual for my Yamaha says to use 10w30 motor oil and SAE 80 gear oil in the axle, though they market Yamalube 10w40 motor oil and SAE 80w90 gear oil saying it designed expressly for my bike! |

| | Valvoline markets motorcycle motor oil in SAE 10w40 and 20w50 to JASO MA. Amsoil has a pure synthetic motorcycle oil and cost about twice as much. Honda-Pro motorcycle oil is also 10w40 not 10w30 the last time I checked. |

| | Mobile 1 make a V-Twin 20-50W. My bike loves it because that first to second gear shift is allot quieter now. Mobile 1 also has a 70-90 oil that you can put in the shaft drive. Wal-Mart carries the oils and a Fram filter for your bike. |
