I am looking for some advice on this bike. I saw one at a Kymco dealership as part of my investigation to purchase a scooter. It seemed really nice and for the price (list of $4300) compared favorable to others. I have looked at the Suzuki Burgman 400, Yamaha Majesty 400, Honda Reflex Sport 250. Perhaps a bit unfair since the 400's are bigger and faster bikes but not as good of gas mileage. I have seen these 2 but not the Honda yet. Kymco has been in the US Market only a short time. Advantages that I see...price, features, 2 year warranty. Disadvantages...unknown entity in US market. The other brands are well established with great reputations but a bit pricey compared to the Kymco. If someone has a comment on my situation I'd be very happy to hear it. I am new to motor bikes but am very through in my inestigation before I buy anything. A friend at work(an experienced rider and owns a Harley) indicated that he would go for the Yamaha first, Honda second and Kymco third. Kymco has a major presence in Asia and is expanding rapidly in the US. I look forward to your comments.

I too was unsure of Kymco when I was buying a scooter. I talked to many people about them and a friend had one which I bought from him in 2002 (people 150) It has so far exceeded my expecatations in every way. Turns out Kymco made small engines for Honda in the early 90's or something. I trust this scooter to take me to and from work every sunny day in the summer. Thats approx. 20 miles and a tank of fuel lasts me over 2 weeks. I know the 250 will be a bit harder on fuel, but will be quicker for sure. My Friend I bought the 150 from returned to Kymco to buy a Bet&Win 250. Kymco is also big in Europe as well as Asia. This bike I Taiwanese and they must have excellent quality control, probably learned that from Honda. I hope this helps some.

Bob, I think it just depends on your needs and what type of riding you expect to do. If you plan to do lots of highway traffic at higher speeds I'd probably go with the Majesty or Burgman 400. They''l cruise at 75-80 on interstates and still have a bit left. If most of your riding is on surface streets and lower speed highway jaunts either of the 250s should be fine and you might appreciate the better gas mileage and lighter weight of the smaller bikes.
If you're buying new I'd think I'd skip the Reflex and go for the Kymco if I was buying a 250. Nothing wrong with the Reflex, it's just that for the price one of the 400s is a better buy. Don't be afraid of the Kymco. they have a stellar reputation and a great warranty. If you have a good local dealer I'd give it strong consideration.

I've had two Kymco's and have nothing but good things to say about them. My last one was a Grand Vista and i loved it. I was back in the market and the first place I went was Kymco to look at the Xciting 500. Unfortunately, I have short legs and the seat was too tall. I ended up buying a Majesty 400 which I also love!
Anyway, you can't go wrong with Kymco. Great quality.
