| Help please. I have a 2000 rancher. my battery has been decharging if left hooked up to my bike. I checked battery with DMM its good, well today i put the battery in and rode my bike for not even 10 minutes and the voltage regulator caught on fire (regulator male end and female end from wire harness melted together. WHY? Did my regulator go out? What to do would be nice, if you can help at all that would be great. I have removed the back plastic and am trying to find a new wiring harness for cheap. Do you know if honda or anyone sells pig tails for ATVs? I thinking about rolling this bike into my creek |

| You'll have to be very carefull next time installing battery.
The connections on the battery cannot touch anything or any part of the frame.
If it's under the seat, make darn sure sitting on seat is not touching battery.
Take protective steps using the exact hardware that held battery in place.
Use wire ties to keep wires safely out of harms way.
Get a camera shot up if you want more help.

| also I think the part you are talking about is the Rectifier thats mounted to the frame on the right rear. correct me if i'm wrong. if thats the part that melted thats probally what you need to replace. 1st question, Have you been jump starting the bike with jumper cables from a car or truck if so that will kill the Rectifier. hope this helps ya
