| After riding a Harley Superglide for the past 6 years, I am considering trading it for a sport tourer. After a day in the saddle, the Harley just leaves me feeling tired. Anyone have any input on going from a cruiser to this bike? Any regrets?

| I went from a cruiser to an ST1300 for the exact same reason. It's been a few months and I have zero regrets. I can carry stuff, actual stuff and not just in a backpack. I can hear, I don't get pelted by bugs, and I probably get more attention on the Honda - cruisers are dime a dozen in this day of American Chopper/bike build off - every poser has a cruiser of some sort.
The sport-tourer is better in the wind, can be ridden in colder weather, carries stuff, has a fuel gauge, and is just much better for a day's riding. Freeway riding in a headwind was a bitch on the cruiser, and not even a factor on the ST1300.
If you're even thinking about trading a Harley for a sport-tourer, your mind is probably about made up already. I liked the look and the noise, but I've never looked back - if anything I can't believe I put with all the crap for years.

| I too am going to make this bike my next purchase. I owned a 94' Fatboy which I sold to buy an 06 Street Glide. The 06' has been nothing but problems since the day I bought it. The bike runs like crap...has had the ecm recalibrated numerous times to no avail. The brakes also squeal like an old bus. I've been follwing the reviews on this bike and all seem very impressive. Hope to make the switch here soon. By the way I have been a hardcore Harley nut for years but am just fed up with their b.s.

Hi everyone" It is refreshing to read all this good review on this particular Motorcycle, Honda ST1300.
I too ride a harley davidson. I had my Softail fxstc for a couple of years now and I feel that I had my fun with it. I did make my Harley more comfortable with a Pillow type cushioned seat. Did some seriuos riding from Adelaide South Australia to Queenlands Gold Coast. Boy! My *** and lower back was aching some what more than I would have expected it to. I always wanted to have ridden a Harley. They look the part and make the noise that brings attention along with it's Icon name. How ever" I will call a Spade a Spade. Harley Davidsons are not what they cracked up to be. They are largely not as ergonomicaly comfortable because of their seating position as a Cruiser. Many have hard and uncomfortable Seats to add to the problem.
My conclusion and from personal experience feel that Harley Davidson dont cut it when it comes to true comfort on the serious long hauls.
The Honda ST1300 just spells comfort to me as well as the BMW K1200 RT. How ever" From what I have seen and have read over and over on the Honda ST1300, I will be looking on upgrading to this Bike fairly soon.
Thank you everyone for your valued information it is reassuring to read from People that ride them.
