| I just want to say that I had a new 2005 1200R sportster and I really liked it. I put 31000 miles on it. I sold it in June of 2007 for $7500. I paid $9400 new. I had about $3000 worth of accessories on it. Your going to lose that investment on any bike. Since harley added the rubber mounted engine, stiffened the frame and upgraded the engine they are now a fantastic bike. I just recently purchased a new 2008 1200R sportster. Fuel injection is a very nice improvement. I buy the 1200 roadsters because of the wider 19" tire, better ground clearance, lean angle, dual front disc brakes and well located speedometer and tech. You don't have to take your eyes off the rode to see the speedometer and tech. Thats a safety feature. I think the sportsters look great and the roadster does very well in the handle department. These new 2004 and later 1200 sportsters are plenty fast enough for me. I did look long and hard at the mean streak and read all the road tests and reviews I could find. I have never ridden a mean streak or actually talked to anyone who has one. They look great and from what I have read they handle very well and are very comfortable but they are not a power cruiser. Just by what I have read they are way under powered to run with the new power cruisers from other manufacturers I wouldn't be surprised it my sportster would out run a mean streak. My 2005 sportster blew the doors of two yamaha royal star 1300s. Probably wouldn't be much differents in price. I think the mean streak is a nice bike. you probably wouldn't be disappointed if you bought one. They same to be a good value. I think there are better choice in the power cruiser catorgary from other manufacturers but for the money make mind a Harley 1200R sportster. By the way, when did a 600lbs., 1200cc., 70hp, motorcycle become a girlie bike. I don't think Evel kneival would have agreed with that statement. He made his jumps on a Harley sportster.
